Old Town Park City of Georgetown

by jwilson 6. December 2009 06:16
We recently finished installing a bubbler tree irrigation system for the tree planting listed below.  It is super that we live in a town where the enviroment is valued, and being reinvested in.  Enjoy your local parks

news photo 1Georgetown Parks & Recreation is looking for volunteers to help with the first public tree planting of the Fall season in the historic downtown area on Saturday, November 7, 2009. Organized by the City’s Urban Forester, Heather Brewer, the tree planting will start at 9 a.m. at Old Town Park. The park is located at 1262 S. Austin Avenue at the corner of 16th Street in Georgetown. The tree planting will mark the first of future renovations to the park, which will include a new playground and renovations to the volleyball court.

Volunteers should wear old shoes and bring gloves and a shovel. Fifty-one trees will be planted, 30 of which are ornamental and 21 shade trees. The ornamental trees will add aesthetic value to the park, lining the wooden fence in the park that has been repeatedly vandalized with graffiti. Species include: Yaupon Holly, Texas Mountain Laurel, Flameleaf Sumac, Mexican Plum, Bur Oak, Monterey Oak, Lacebark Elm and Chinkapin Oak. The holes for planting the trees will be pre-dug by parks staff. “Volunteers are needed to place the trees, shovel soil around the root balls, and put mulch around the trees once they are planted,” says Brewer.news photo 2

To volunteer please contact Heather Brewer, urban forester for the City of Georgetown, at hbrewer@georgetowntx.org. Please indicate how many people from your group will be attending. For more information, please call (512) 930-6113.

Installation of 1/2 Mile of Irrigation line for Cemetary City of Georgetown

by jwilson 1. July 2009 15:58

Attached are some pictures of a recent job we completed for the City of Georgetown. This was the installation of an irrigation line to water cemetery plots for the IOOF cemetery.  We installed the supply line, hose bibs, and access boxes for the bibs.  The hose bibs and conveniently buried, with the boxes set it at grade to prevent vehicular damage to the hose bibs.  All this work was completed in roughly a day and a half.  Out of the three bidders on the project we not only won the project with low bid, we also provided the city with the best workmanship available today.  Contact us today for top notch workmanship at a bargain price.

Irrigation / Sprinkler System Scheduling for Austin Texas

by jwilson 30. May 2009 09:15

It's heating up, and the Forecast has 90 degree weather in it for the remainder of this week in the Austin area.  Remember when setting your schedule this summer that Rotating Style sprinklers like the Hunter PGP rotor typically apply at a rate of .5" per hour http://www.hunterindustries.com/Resources/PDFs/Product_Guides/Domestic/lit213w.pdf  , and the Spray (mister) style sprinkler heads typically apply at a rate of 1.5" per hour http://www.rainbird.com/landscape/products/sprays/chart_10MPR.htm.  This means that your rotating style heads need to run roughly three times as long as the spray (mister) style heads to apply the same amount of water.  The most common trouble service call we get in the summer is areas that appear too dry.  Many times the Rotor style heads are programmed to water the same as the Spray style heads, and this causes the Rotor areas to be underwatered by 1/3.  You can watch your local Austin news to get current recommended application amounts, and then just set the sprinkler to water the time to get that amount irrigated.

This week I will begin to do some work on some small video clips of some of our more common sprinkler repairs.  This should give you an example of some of our work.

Call today for fast professional sprinkler service and repairs in the entire Austin Metro Area.
